Our Story

For 45 years, Movin' Easy has been Austin's trusted dancewear destination. What began in 1981 as a small New York-style boutique has grown into a cornerstone of Austin's vibrant dance community.

Our grand opening celebrated the city's diverse dance culture—from avant-garde to ballet, featuring everything from roller skate dancers to sword dancers and Jazzercise exhibitions. From day one, our vision was clear: ensure Austin dancers had access to quality dancewear, expert fitting, and the latest styles while supporting local companies and schools.

We've been privileged to grow alongside Austin's dance scene. When Ballet Austin launched their professional company, we created a streamlined ordering system for company shoes and dancewear, and donated shoes to help build their apprentice program. Supporting local dance companies and promoting their performances remains at the heart of what we do.

Our commitment to professional fitting began with our very first employee—a touring professional dancer who helped establish our customer-friendly approach and comprehensive training program. Today, every team member receives extensive training in sophisticated fitting techniques, ensuring you leave with the perfect fit, every time.
