 Passion Echoes:
                  Noches de Amores

Passion Echoes opens the thirtieth anniversary of the Aztlan Dance Company’s cultural service to the Austin community.

Passion Echoes will showcase two original ballets that highlight the unique aspects of love as seen through the lens of Latino culture.  Latino culture is filled with icons and imagery that is as deep and diverse as its century rich traditions.  In “Midnight Journey,” Aztlan’s first ballet, audiences will travel with performers as they traverse the barren Spanish countryside in search of land that will end their gypsy nomadic life.  It is when they find sanctity in the romance of the desert moon that they discover their duende, the night spirit, that infuses their soul and inspires their quest.

In the second ballet titled “Circo Aztlan,” spectators are witness to the ironies of love, tragedy and solitude as only the ringmaster can share.  Hurry, hurry, step right up!

The Aztlan Dance Company works to create innovative and dynamic dance that highlights indigenous and contemporary cultures of the Americas.  The Aztlan Dance Company was founded in 1974 and has travelled throughout the Southwest region.

Flying, Sword Fights, Fairy Dust and Eternal Youth Spark the Magic of Peter Pan

Under the direction of Artistic Director Stephen Mills, Ballet Austin takes its audience on a magical
journey to Neverland with Septime Webre’s Peter Pan.   In addition to the classical ballet, this production
weaves high-flying techniques, suspenseful sword fights, and other creative staging into the production.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Barrie’s Neverland fantasy.  Webre’s adventure-filled version
comes complete with pirates, pixie dust, a tick-tocking crocodile and the magic of flight.
The original
score by Carmon DeLeone, performed by the Austin Symphony Orchestra, will enhance the adventure
and excitement of the story.  The production will be topped off with extravagant costumes and sets
courtesy of The Cincinnati Ballet.

October 15 and 16 at 8:00 p.m. and October 17 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Bass Concert Hall.
