KillSport, is a new contemporary dance by Ellen Bartel with original music by Andy Hadaway.
KillSport will by performed at the Blue Theater, 916 Springdale Ave, March 17- April 3, Thursday - Saturday 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Blue Theater is accessible via 7th st to Springdale, or bus # 17. For information call 927-1118. Performing in KillSport are dancers Ellen Bartel, Amy Cone, Cristina Jesurun, Michel Scott, Kayo Tsujimoto and Matthew Young. KillSport, funded in part by the City of Austin and sponsored by Salvage Vanguard Theater , and in the vain of motion pictures like Deathrace 2000,
is a satirical portrayal of the killer instinct in the most innocent of creatures. Taking from images of the current political environment, video games and family pets, Bartel’s imagination brings to life the darker side, the aggressive nature of society, and how it changes from a Utopia to a battle ground. Stuffed animals, fake blood, rain storms and moonlight are some of the images for the eyes to feast upon. Add fantastic dancing,
choreography and music and this dance will not disappoint.
