Last day of Sale at Movin Easy, Sunday 081310 What’s the buzz on a Sale at Movin’ Easy in 2010? Fabulous is all there is of course. Fabulous dancers and moms and dads rubbing elbows in a space that should seem as huge as Macy’s. Nooks and crannies of fabulous treasures capturing all eyes with colors and bodice shapes and stiletto-esk shapely shoes.
That’s not all of the fabulous of course. Movin Easy has a new fabulous shape, blossoming with a fabulous new dancing floor and two new windows right in front bringing even more fabulousness of splashing light.
And not to forget even for a second the fabulous attention and celebration each dancer receives from the Dancewear Specialists at Movin Easy. On a busy morning it is much like laughing fairies rushing through the woods guiding the princes and princesses and all their attendants and patrons and their admirers to find the perfect fitting slipper and the most flattering wardrobe.
Whether I join the flurry of the fairies or simply explore the woodland stories dancing through each person there, I am thoroughly in awe of so much flourishing fabulousness.
Jeffery Garza came in to Movin’ Easy to get his size 21 Sansha ballet shoes. After leaving school and professional athletics to study ballet, he founded his design company @2TALL. Always great to find another man who loves ballet.
Movin’ Easy was in Boulder taking a Zumba class. Teacher was wearing Bloch Dance Sneakers. Dance Sneakers are a big seller at Movin’ Easy for all forms of dance, Jazz, Ballroom practice, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Zumba, Aireal dancing. as well as everyday sports.
The bloch Dance Sneaker is a split sole so it hugs the arch, light weight and snug for versatile movement in any direction including on the toes. The sole is made to spin and the shoe looks great even after long term wear.
I have worn this style for 10 years as an everyday shoe. It lasts over a year and looks great the whole time. And of course the most important is that I am always ready to dance.
Where are dancers going at SXSW?
I have a serious problem with venues without dance floors. And I love it when local dancers go out and show the total variety of what dance is from Tap to Flamenco and Contact Improvisation, along with the social and ballroom dances. Just not enough space in the intensity of SXSW or not enough brain storming by dancers to get their stuff out there. see us at http://www.movineasy.com
“Movin Easy is such a great store. I got my things there when I was growing up and now my daughter and I shop there.” Thanks to all the Mom’s and Dad’s who have a great experience shopping with us. http://www.movineasy.com

Why do some dancers use shoes and some go barefoot? The choice has to do with the amount of friction needed and how the dancer wants to feel the floor. Each dancer has their goal of the kind of feedback they want from the way their feet meet the floor. And for different styles of dance the goals are different for the same dancer.
With a dance shoe, the entire foot centers its focus on one area of the foot and it is easier to identify that point of contact when there is one unified sole. A dancer will sometimes want to have the sensation of all the nerve endings touching the floor and for these times, barefoot is best.
The dance shoe is designed to give that feeling of the floor and to move as if it were a part of the foot. That is the reason that the fitting is usually tighter than a street shoe. http://www.movineasy.com The soft leather sole gives the feeling of the floor with the control to be able to move quickly and stop easily.
As dancers work with momentum and gravity, the amount of friction affects the way they want to enter into a movement whether it is spinning, flying through the air, or rolling on the ground. Bare feet are often covered with a tape or a lyrical shoe to reduce friction and still give the impression of bare feet. The dance shoe is designed to respond to the smallest movement for entering a turn or a spin with the added control of being able to stop easily.
Hard leather soles are too slick to give this kind of control and do not allow the dancer to sense the floor as well as the soft leather sole. Street shoes and athletic shoes are not designed to move in every direction or to give the kind of feedback from the floor that a dancer needs.
